Родился 6 апреля 1957 года. В 1982 году закончил историко-филологический факультет Якутского государственного университета и сразу был принят на службу в Министерство внутренних дел в уголовном розыске. Прошел все ступени оперативной службы. В последние годы был заместителем начальника криминальной милиции, а затем начальником управления собственной безопасности МВД Якутии. Закончил Академию Управления МВД РФ. С 2009 г — на пенсии по выслуге лет. Занимается общественной деятельностью, состоит в совете мировых судей. Занесен на Доску Почета МВД РС(Я). Имеет медаль ордена «За заслуги перед Отечеством» 2 ст., медали «За безупречную службу» 3 ст., «За отличие в службе» 1 и 2 ст., нагрудные знаки «Лучший сотрудник криминальной милиции», «За отличную службу в МВД», многочисленные ценные подарки, денежные премии, благодарности, грамоты МВД РС(Я), МВД РФ за успехи в оперативно-розыскной деятельности, за раскрытие конкретных особо сложных, тяжких и опасных преступлений, за высокий профессионализм в работе, за образцовое исполнение служебного долга.
В.М.Егоров лично раскрыл множество тяжких преступлений, более 300 убийств и, как никто другой знает, что толкает людей брать на себя самый страшный грех в своей жизни и каковы его последствия. Полковник в отставке неожиданно для всех начал писать книги, основанные на реальных событиях.
Из интервью от 1210.2017 г.:
Почему вы резко решили писать книги? Раньше писали?
— Писать начал с апреля 2017 года. А так излагать мысли на бумаге я приучен. Будучи на руководящих должностях, все справки и доклады писал только сам — в этом вопросе я никому не доверял. Весной этого года я однажды проснулся ночью. Спать не хотелось. Сел за компьютер, начал печатать и не мог остановиться до утра. За первый день написал десять машинописных листов и решил продолжить. Так появилась «Адычанская трагедия», которую я закончил за неполный месяц.
В жизни абсолютные злодеи редко встречаются. Общаясь с преступником, оперативник узнает очень много про него, его чаяния и надежды, раскрывает внутренний мир. Не всё фиксируется в уголовном деле. Художественное произведение позволяет отразить все те нюансы, которые выходят за рамки официального протокольного языка. Вторая книга называется «Воздаяние монстру». Несмотря на то, что я за годы службы видел множество трупов и расследовал сотни убийств, это дело отпечаталось в моем мозгу, как одно из самых циничных и жестоких. В начале 2000-х годов в одном из районов Якутии была убита семья — трое детей и их родители. Убийца — одно из тех редких явлений природы, когда «это» нельзя назвать человеком, это нелюдь. Я долго думал, писать ли про это преступление, оно слишком жуткое для читателя. Решился ради того, чтобы больше не совершались такие преступления, чтобы взрослые, как могли, оберегали невинных детей от черной длани преступника».
Чем вы сейчас занимаетесь? Люди отзываются о вас, как о непримиримом, жестком сыщике, который не шел ни на какие уступки.
– Люди, долго работавшие в органах, после выхода на пенсию часто впадают в депрессию, скучают по работе, общению, но это не про меня. Когда я вышел на пенсию, родилась вторая внучка, а затем появились на свет еще пятеро внучат. Утро у меня начинается с того, что я развожу их по школам, детским садикам. Днем забираю кого-то из школы, отвожу на тренировки, а вечером развожу всех по домам. С женой живем в частном доме. Самые радостные моменты в жизни – это когда все внучата собираются у нас дома. Их у нас семеро. Когда тут скучать?
*** 31 марта 2018 г. в Центральной городской библиотеке им. В.Г.Белинского в г.Якутске состоялась презентация трилогии В.М.Егорова, посвященная к 100-летию Уголовного розыска МВД России.
Про творчество Егорова В.М. опубликовано несколько статей в районных и республиканских газетах. Имеются многочисленные отзывы о его книгах. Вот только один из них:
«Если честно, я про убийства, насилие не люблю ни смотреть, ни читать. Но книги Виталия Егорова заставляют задуматься, войти в положение преступника, даже его пожалеть, другими глазами смотреть на них; что бы общество, семья сделали, чтоб они не совершали эти злодеяния. Государство искоренило бы их – и преступников бы не было. Сильные книги!».

He has a 2nd class medal of the Order of Merit for the Motherland, 3rd class medals For Honorable Service, 1st and 2nd class medals for distinguished service, award pins Best Employee of Criminal Police, For Excellent Service in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, numerous valuable gifts, cash bonuses, letters of gratitude, diplomas of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for successes in investigative activity, disclosure of specific particularly complex, grave and dangerous crimes, high professionalism, and exemplary performance of service duty.
V.M. Egorov personally disclosed numerous grave crimes, more than 300 murders; better than anyone one he knows what makes people take on the most terrible sin in their lives and what are its consequences.
The retired Colonel has suddenly begun to write books based on true stories.
From an interview on 12.10.2017:
Why have you suddenly decided to write books? Have you written before?
— I started writing in April 2017. Basically, I’m used to stating on paper. Being in the managerial positions, I wrote all information letters and reports myself — I did not trust anyone. This spring, I woke up at one night and didn’t want to sleep anymore. I switched on a computer and started typing and couldn’t stop till morning. In the first day I wrote ten typewritten pages and decided to continue. That’s how Adycha tragedy appeared, which I finished in less than a month.
Absolute villains are rarely encountered in real life. Communicating with a criminal, an operative learns a lot about him, his aspirations and hopes, reveals the inner world. Not everything is fixed in the criminal case. Artwork allows you to reflect all those nuances that go beyond the official protocol language. The book is called A Retribution to Monster. Despite the fact that over the years I have seen many corpses and investigated hundreds of murders, this case was imprinted in my brain, as one of the most cynical and cruel. In the early 2000s, a family was killed in one of Yakutia’s districts — three children and their parents. A murderer was one of those rare natural phenomena that can not be called a human, he was monster. I have long thought whether to write about this crime or not, as it is too eerie for the reader. I decided to write about it in order to prevent such crimes from happening again, so that adults could protect innocent children from the black hands of the offender.
What are you doing now? People say you were an irreconcilable, tough detective who did not make any concessions.
— People who have worked in law enforcement for a long time often get depressed after retirement, they miss work and communication, but this is not about me. When I retired, my second granddaughter was born, and then five more grandchildren. My morning begins with taking them to schools and kindergartens. In the afternoon I pick some some of them from school and take to trainings, and in the evening I drive them home. My wife and I live in a private house. The most joyful moments in life are when all the grandchildren gather at our house. We have seven of them. No time for boredom?

On March 31, 2018 Belinsky Central City Library hosted the presentation of V.M. Egorov’s trilogy dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Criminal Investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
Several articles about his work were published in the regional and national newspapers. There are numerous reviews of his books. Here is just one of them:
To be honest, I do not like to watch or read about murders and violence. But Vitaly Yegorov’s books make you think, put yourself in the criminal’s position, even have pity on him, and look at him from other pint of view; what would a society and family do to prevent him from committing these atrocities. The state would eradicate them — and there would be no criminals. Strong books! Powerful books!.
The trilogy of V. Egorov: Adycha tragedy, A Retribution to Monster and The Punishment of Chochur Muran were published in Russian, 3000 copies of each were sold. Total 9000 copies for an incomplete year in the city of Yakutsk alone. They are also sold in the largest online bookstores — Ridero, Ozon, Amazon, Litres, Bookmate.
