Mingda was born in 1986 in a small town called Zhecheng in Henan Province, China. In 2010, he obtained his bachelor’s degree majoring in sculpture from the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in China. In 2012, obtained his master of fine art degree (Distinction) at the university for the creative arts in Canterbury, UK. During his master’s study, he went to the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in Germany through the Erasmus exchange, study at public art and new artistic strategies major for one semester. In 2014, he taught at the Sculpture Department of China Shangqiu Normal University. From 2018 to the present, Minda began to pursue a doctorate degree in contemporary ceramic art research in the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw, Poland.
Benefiting from his study experience in Europe, Mingda has a continuing interest in the experience of living in an alien social and cultural environment as a foreigner. Mingda’s practice includes sculpture, ceramics, painting and installation art. Various emotions and activities related to communication, agreement, inspiration, compromise, cultural integration, anger, misreading and other phenomena involved in the process of coexistence between individuals and alien cultures are considered as nutrients for his thinking and creation.
